2021–2022 Novice Packet & Curriculum

We’re excited to announce the 2021–2022 NDCA Novice Packet!

This year’s packet contains a comprehensive set of arguments on the topic, along with a brand-new curricular component, to better aid your classroom planning and instruction of novice policy debaters. It is available for download via Dropbox and Google Drive.

Special thanks to our collaborators at the National Association for Urban Debate Leagues (NAUDL) and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), in conjunction with various community stakeholders. We also extend our gratitude for the individual contributions of the following coaches:

  • Shree Awsare – North Broward Preparatory School

  • Ian Beier – College Preparatory School

  • Alyssa Corrigan – Glenbrook South High School

  • Sarah Davidson – Notre Dame High School

  • Christopher Eckert – University of Kentucky

  • Emilyn Hazelbrook – Emory University

  • Sheryl Kaczmarek – Lexington High School

  • Kevin Kuswa – Berkeley Preparatory School

  • Gabriel Morbeck – Emory University

  • Tammie Peters – Unaffiliated

  • Jackie Poapst – George Mason University

  • Dustin Rimmey – Topeka High School

  • Daniel Roytburg – Emory University

As always, we strongly encourage that tournaments offer a packet-specific novice division whenever possible, which enhances educational value. If you have any questions about the packet, or hosting a novice-packet division at your tournament, feel free to contact me at bmanuel@edgemont.org.

Wishing you a safe and healthy season,
Brian Manuel
